Note that there had been no change whatsoever in the pattern of "tears" over that two-week period, despite the claim by Rev. Matos that the flowing tears had been requiring him to repeatedly dab them away with cotton balls. Guss Wilder managed to get Matos to admit to him that the white streaks had actually been present, and unchanged, ever since the "icon" photograph was first displayed on the Shrine's wall seven months earlier.
